The United States Coast Guard is an essential part of the Department of the Homeland Security, but due to lack of funding, The Coast Guard has found it difficult to complete their task successfully. The Coast Guard needs to merge forces with the Navy in order to complete their mission more successfully, because the Navy has a larger budget, a more effective command structure, and an ever improving fleet of highly technological ships.
My research paper is focusing on how the Coast Guard could be improved by moving its funding and command structure from the Department of Homeland Security to the Department of the Navy.
Research
My plan of action is for congress to pass a bill moving the Coast Guard to the Department of the Navy, giving the Coast Guard a bigger budget to work with and allowing US ships across the world to work on one network.
